Reverie’s Founder Steps Down: Goodbyes, Big Changes, New Beginnings
To our incredible community,
After one of the most meaningful years of my life, I am stepping away from my role at the ballroom to be with my family and take care of my own health and heart.
My father is declining rapidly with Alzheimer's, and being close to him and my family is where I need to be. What began as a plan to split my time (for the time I have left with him) has led to a deeper reckoning, and I've made peace with that.
After 16 years in Seattle, I'm moving to the Bay Area to be close to my parents and soak up some sunshine. It's bittersweet to leave a city I've put down such deep roots in, and it's also time to heal and begin something new.
What began as a dream — a Reverie, you might say — became something far bigger than I ever imagined. The ballroom, the community it serves, the fact that this historic space is still alive and breathing with art and creation; that is something I will carry with reverence for the rest of my life.
You welcomed me with such warmth from day one. You showed up through the renovation, through the change, through the long days. I will never forget the palpable, exuberant love in the room during the Grand Opening.
The team here is extraordinary, and the ballroom is in wonderful hands. Hallie Kuperman has graciously agreed to step in as interim CEO, and I could not imagine anyone better to steer this ship into the next chapter. The board is very supportive of this decision, and they will be working closely with Hallie to ensure Reverie continues to grow and thrive.
If you'd like to stay in touch, find me on Facebook. I will continue to cheer on the ballroom from afar!
Thank you for the honor of this past year.
With so much love,
Eliza
