Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct

Reverie Ballroom is a multicultural and multi-generational community and it is our responsibility to offer a safe and welcoming place to all.

Reverie Ballroom will take action in response to discrimination, hate speech, harassment, coercion, and other behaviors that violate our Code of Conduct. We reserve the right to ask you to leave the ballroom.

Reverie Ballroom has security via the Oddfellows Building. We reserve the right to contact security and to involve law enforcement at our discretion.

Reverie Ballroom is connected to a bar. On 21+ nights, alcoholic beverages can be brought into the ballroom. We understand that the presence of alcohol is welcome to some and creates barriers for others.

We expect all attendees to be responsible with their substance use. If you display problematic behavior while intoxicated, the ballroom reserves the right to ask that you remain sober while onsite.

Everyone gets to Belong

The ballroom celebrates a diversity of movement styles, genders, races, ages, sexual orientations, and cultures. Being a home for different dance scenes is part of what makes Reverie special. We ask that you welcome your fellow dancers and stay curious.

Mistakes are Natural & Necessary

The ballroom is a site of learning—about dance, culture, and community. Mistakes are a normal part of the learning process. We ask that you commit to learning how to honor differences in technique, expectations, aesthetics, and communication, and that you respect the sincere efforts of newcomers while remaining open to feedback.

Dance is for Every Body

The ballroom welcomes people of all different abilities, sizes, bodies, genders, cultural backgrounds, and needs. Anyone can dance any dance, and any role. We ask that you navigate this without judgment or assumptions.

Touch is Respectful & Consenting

Partner dance requires mutually negotiated physical contact, the norms and expectations of which are different in different dance styles. We ask that you create an environment for respectful touch and that you receive feedback and boundaries gracefully, on and off the dance floor.
