Real Talk with Hallie: Back to the Ballroom Office as Interim CEO for Reverie

As Gomer Pyle would say: "Sur-prise, sur-prise, sur-prise!"

Watching from the periphery of Reverie for the past year, I have remained an instructor & DJ and initially was a consultant to Eliza. I am fully aware of the personal hardships she has dealt with over the past year while renovating two historic spaces, creating a new organization, and trying to find the model that will keep us all dancing here.

Having been there myself, almost 30 years ago, I know how hard that is.

I agree with and support her decision to step down to take care of herself and be with her family, as we don’t get a second chance.

I was approached by the Board to step in as Interim CEO as I am intimately connected to this space, many of the staff, instructors, DJs, Bands, Art Table and possess institutional knowledge of running this type of business.  Reverie Ballroom It is not Century Ballroom, and it should not try to be. While there will be things to learn and change; from the moment I decided to let Century go, my only hope was that it remain a place for community, dance, events, music and art.

Change can be hard, but my love of these two ballrooms, and the people who bring them to life, made it an easy decision to say yes when asked to step back in during this transitional period.

Although I will be the acting CEO, your core group continues to be Alex, Ryeder and Rebecca. I look forward to working closely with them, to continue to move Reverie forward.

Sincerely,

Hallie Kuperman
