OutDancing is one of the longest running nights for the LGBTQ social dance community in Seattle and certainly the largest floor to spin around on.

• DJ Mr. Kate and MC Koop team up to bring you a night of non-stop dancing.

• Whether you lean towards the Latin styles like Salsa, Bachata, or Swing, both Lindy Hop and West Coast, or you’re an avid Country Western dancer wanting to Two-Step, Waltz and line dance, you’ll find music to keep your feet moving all night long.

• There’s a beginning partner dance lesson taught followed by a line dance lesson; each month is a different dance so you can try something new.

It is a partner dance of personal expression for both lead and follow, allowing you to style it funky, jazzy, slinky, or swingin’. Known for its fun rhythm changes and improvisation, this is a great dance to have in your social repertoire.

The Cloud Drops are an all-star 8-piece (sometimes 7-piece) dance band from Seattle that formed specifically for the first year of the Stormy Weather Jazz Festival.  Since then, they’ve continued to hone their craft around town, becoming favorites at the Century Ballroom and Swing Dance SCT. The band features over 60 original arrangements and compositions by local favorites Jonathan Doyle, Jacob Zimmerman and Matt Weiner.  

Waltz takes its name from the German word “walzen,” meaning to roll, turn, or glide. It is a ballroom dance done in 3/4 time. Colorful flowing ball gowns (or short skirts), tails (or blue jeans), beautiful Strauss music (or Lyle Lovett). Whatever is your fancy – come give it a whirl! CAUTION: The Waltz was criticized on moral grounds by those opposed to its close hold and rapid turning movements.

As a co-founder of Mambo Madness Social, a vinyl social event, he passionately shares his collection of records accumulated over the years. DJ JoJo’s journey has also led him to inspiring appearances on national television and various radio shows.
